State Opening of Parliament
This morning saw the State Opening of Parliament, with Her Majesty’s representative, the Rt. Hon. Jerry Mateparae, Governor-General of New Zealand, delivering the Speech from the Throne.
The House sits again from 2pm when the Address in Reply debate will commence. Two of my 2014 intake National Party colleagues will have the privilege of delivering the first two speeches in that debate – an honour that can only received in your first few days as an MP.
Select Committees will meet this week and progress of Government legislation will commence in the House as of tomorrow evening. The real work is underway!
