Wellington Chocolate Factory Tour
Today I joined colleague Paul Foster-Bell MP, Jennifer Fellows, Nicola Yong and Aaron Hape on a tour of the Wellington Chocolate Factory, hosted by proprietor Rochelle Harrison.
WCG make organic, ethically traded, bean to bar chocolate. It is made with artisanal methods to the highest quality and I can attest that it is delicious.
Rochelle and her team of 11 staff produce approximately 120kg of chocolate per week and have plans for significant growth, including significant export potential.
They are looking to introduce chocolate made with Bougainville cocoa beans and are raising capital on kickstarter to buy a sailing boat to ship the beans to New Zealand – wind-powered chocolate.
I encourage you to check it out on www.kickstarter.com/projects/wellingtonchocolate/the-wellington-chocolate-voyage
Paul and I turned our hands to a wee pour. The photographic evidence shows a sound novice’s effort by Hudson, with Paul under-delivering by a good 15% – the ‘weights and measures’ folk will be calling around for a chat with him…
Wellington Chocolate Factory is on Eva St and is well worth a visit. Another creative and innovative business in Wellington; helping to grow the economy and jobs in the capital.
